THE PERFUME CITY OF INDIA

UTTAR PRADESH--KANNAUJ

Many people know uttarpradesh for its beauty and for the presence of one of the seven wonders of the world but very few people know that there is a city named kannauj in uttarpradesh which is also called as perfume city of India. kannauj is the only place in the entire world where attar(which is also known as ittar) is manufactured naturally. The 80% of industries here are attar manufacturing industries and their skill of manufacturing it is passed through generations. Although attars are mostly used as perfume, they are also used for medicinal purposes. Kannauj still follows the 5000 year old method of extracting perfume and nickel plated copper vessels are used in this process. The flowers are first soaked in water and then heated in containers hence this process of extracting fragrance takes around 5 hours. Six types of perfumes are made in kannauj and the most famous one is mud perfumes which has got the aroma of first rain on dry muddy lands. It’s a quite familiar scent to everyone's senses but rare to find and capture in a bottle. All of these perfumes smell angelic and they are long-lasting since they are free of alcohol and other types of chemicals. Isn't it great that you can make a perfume out of your favorite smell of nature so make sure that you also visit kannauj and buy these excellent perfumes when you are in uttarpradesh.
